《우는 감각》은 공간과 소리에 대한 인식을 통해 무용수들의 감각을 자극하고, 그들이 의식적으로 신체의 변화를 만들어내도록 이끈다. 이러한 변화는 흔히 감정에 뒤따르는 것으로 여겨지지만, 사실 우리의 몸 안에 무의식적으로 저장되어 있으며 단순한 자극, 즉 감각에 의해 표현될 수 있다.

특정한 감정과 연결되어 있지 않거나 기억되지 않는 감각을 지각과 연결함으로써 신체의 변화를 일으킬 때, 그것은 다시 감정을 불러올 수 있을까? 그 감정은 감각, 그리고 몸과 어떤 관계를 맺고 있을까?

이 작업은 감정의 표현으로 여겨지는 신체 변화의 흐름을 거스르고, 방해하고, 교차시키며 얻어지는 확장된 경로를 통해 감정과 감각의 바깥, 혹은 그 사이의 틈을 탐구한다. 열리거나 닫힌 구조 안에서 무용수들의 확장된 감각과 감정은 움직임, 소리, 그리고 공간의 진동을 통해 관객에게 전달된다. 우리는 그때 전달되는 감각이 어떤 정서적 공감, 혹은 그와는 다른 무엇인가를 일으킬 수 있는지 다시 묻는다.

A Crying Sense stimulates the dancers’ senses through their perception of space and sound, guiding them to consciously bring about changes in their bodies. Although these changes are commonly understood to follow emotion, they are unconsciously stored within our bodies and can be expressed through simple stimuli—that is, through sensation.

When sensations that are neither associated with a particular emotion nor remembered are brought into perception to produce bodily changes, can those changes evoke emotion in turn? How does that emotion relate to sensation and the body?

This work explores what lies beyond emotion and sensation, or in the gaps between them, through expanded pathways opened by reversing, interrupting, and intersecting the flow of bodily changes understood as expressions of emotion. Within open or closed structures, the dancers’ expanded sensations and emotions reach the audience through movement, sound, and vibrations in the space. We ask again whether the sensations transmitted in these moments can evoke emotional empathy—or something else.
